ShamanicDrumming.com was launched in 2001 in order to share the healing power of rhythm with like-minded members of our global drumming community. Our mission is to create a vibrant international community devoted to shamanic drumming as a vehicle for healing, consciousness expansion, and community building.
A Note from the Publisher
Raised in a conservative Southern Baptist Church, I had my first ecstatic experience as a youth at a church revival, an evangelistic meeting intended to reawaken interest in religion. This state of rapture and trancelike elation inspired my spiritual quest. I spent more than thirty years of my life seeking answers to some of life's most perplexing mysteries: Why am I here? What happens when you die? What is life's purpose? I explored the world's great religions, considered the philosophies of humanity, and studied the theories of modern science.
At a crucial point in my search, I came in touch with the transforming power of shamanic drumming and of an ancient shamanic way of self-knowledge. Under the tutelage of Mongolian shaman Jade Wah'oo Grigori, I learned the healing rhythms and drum ways of an ancient shamanic lineage. I discovered that therapeutic rhythm techniques have been used for thousands of years to create and maintain physical, mental, and spiritual health. Jade's knowledge of shamanic drumming was most influential in the writing of my first book, The Shamanic Drum.
Inspired by my studies, research, and experiences, I founded Talking Drum Publications in 1991 in order to publish shamanic drumming instructional books and CDs. For the past twenty years I have been facilitating drum circles and hands-on experiential workshops nationwide. This site is part of my effort to create an empowered global shamanic community for the sake of our future generations.
